Launched by the World Bank, the Italian Ministry of the Environment and the Global Environment Facility in September 2011, Connect4Climate (C4C) is a campaign, a coalition, and a community dedicated to raising awareness about climate change issues around the world. The C4C global partnership initiative is helping, through social media and the web, to amplify the voices of local stakeholders who have stories to tell about climate change. C4C’s goal is to create a participatory, open knowledge platform that engages the global community in climate change conversation to drive local action. Since launching in September 2011, C4C has built an online community approaching half a million users engaged in climate change conversations and resource-sharing, and a coalition of more than 150 partners committed to climate change communication and action.
In the run-up to the UN Conference on Climate Change (COP 17) in Durban in December 2011, C4C kick-started its campaign by challenging African youth from the ages of 13 to 35 to tell their personal climate change stories through photos and videos focused on six categories: agriculture, energy, forests, gender, health, and water. The results were impressive, with over 700 photos and videos submitted from every country on the African continent. Following the success of the C4C photo/video contest, in June 2012 C4C launched Voices4Climate, a global competition in collaboration with MTV for the best climate photos, videos, music videos, and podcasts. The competition closed on December 31, 2012 with more than 1000 entries submitted from 116 countries. The winners were announced at the high-profile C4C: Right Here, Right Now event in Washington, DC on March 1, 2013.

The iChange video challenge invites university students worldwide to showcase their talents and create a powerful message about climate change and potential solutions through an original short video ad. The 30-second video can tell a story to raise awareness about climate change, encourage action, and/or propose potential solutions.
